History of Journalism Project Directions (read carefully):
1. At the end of this project you will need to turn in an outline, a Powerpoint or Prezi presentation (URL or file), a works cited page, and a short reflection.
2. Presentation slides should consist solely of pictures and/or short, short media clips. Keep text to only titles. The details should be delivered by you, the speaker!
3. You will need to present your Powerpoint or Prezi to the rest of the class. The outline, works cited page, and reflection go to me (and are due when you give your presentation to the class). When presenting your presentation you may use notecards for your topic, but you should know the information you will cover or explain to the rest of the class.
Please complete your Powerpoint/Prezi projects today in the lab. We will deliver our first presentations next class. You will have a few minutes to fix and/or perfect your work next lab class.

The people that decide to go toward a journalism career are privileged because not many people pick this job, so you will be sure to have a job in this career. If there are a few people in this job, your voice will surely be heard somewhere in the world. In these days, journalism has lots of things to write about, so journalist have lots of opinions to give out to the world. If you give the world and opinion that they would like, it will be sure that you will be known around the city. The only opposing view that I have with the career of journalism having a bright future for the people in it, is that many new ways of technology and spreading news around the world is coming as days pass and that gives journalist people to not get a good living out of it. If you are interested in a journalism career, you shouldn't be in it because of the money because you won't make much, but because you want to get involved in the community and make a difference. Journalism is important in the world, and that's because it educates, informs and inspire people and their views on things.
ReplyDelete"Techno-pessimist" implies that seeing the obvious makes you have a negative outlook on life. Journalism is going by the wayside, and anyone can see that. Major news sources (Fox News, MSNBC, etc...) have been using submitted articles by non-Journalists for quite a long time, and blogs are taking off very fast. The jobs of a Journalist (writing and investigating) will continue forever, but the job title of Journalist will soon be gone.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the tips given in the article were very informative on what journalism would be like for those growing up to want to become a journalist. Explaining all the changes that are most likely to occur that causes effects for the jobs that are later to be dismissed or added to the process of journalism.
ReplyDeleteJournalism seems to have a bright future because there's just so many people that are interested in writing, and all they want to do it pursue this career. And schools such as this one that provide the creative writing program just gets them started on their careers. There's just so many great writers out there and more and more keep rising.Journalism is a career that I feel many people would be interested,it gives you many great opportunities in life and would set you off to a good future.Journalism so far does seem to have a bright future.
ReplyDeleteI think there isn't a future in journalism because more and more people are viewing the news through the internet. The internet is a faster and yet a more simplified tool to use if you want to access the news.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I think journalism does have a bright future, because I see it has nothing can really take it away. You will always need someone to prove what is being said, and there is always someone who wants to be a journalist, and in the end, that'll always keep journalism going.
ReplyDeleteI firmly believe that people will start to make journalism into a career, as more and more people are becoming more and more involved with the internet there will be a need for more writers, more views and new people to replace those who leave. There is nothing to really to stop this influx of of people becoming more and more involved, and social media is becoming even more of a staple in the lives of humans around the world.
ReplyDeleteI believe journalism has a fairly stable future. Things like newspaper will most likely decrease but like eBooks with print book, electronic will never fully take over the other. People have been more vocal about their opinions then ever and with resources to here the views of others around the world that will only increase. People will never stop wanting to know what is going on nationally and now they can learn what is happening internationally and how that affects them. Journalism will never cease to exist, it will just lessen in popularity in some ways, increase in others, but for the most part I feel it will be fairly consistent.
ReplyDeleteI believe journalism will always be something that is present. However, I don't believe it will increase in popularity due to the various sources of information available.
