Commercial Project!
1. Work with a team of 1-3 people.
2. Brainstorm and select a product that you will be advertising. Ex. a food item, a household appliance, a common useful item, a tool, a clothes brand, etc.
3. Come up with a campaign theme/idea for your ad.
4. Choose video/audio that you want to use with the ad. You can download audio/video from Youtube or from other sources. You need to use a converter program to do so...Remember: you want to save your work as an MP3 or MP4!
5. If you can, use computer graphics or your computer skills to enhance your project. Again, see The Toothbrush Ad as an excellent example of what we want.
6. Use the storyboards to flesh out an idea.
7. Film your product/scene.
8. Edit your film and upload to Youtube. Send me the URL link.
Don’t get too carried away with elaborate visual elements; they can drive up the cost of your TV ads (or you won't be able to do these cool effects as students in our video editing programs...). You can create visuals that are effective but cheap with just takes a bit of creativity.
For example, instead of having a herd of wild horses gallop through a scene, you can use the sound effects of a herd of wild horses galloping by off-camera.

ReplyDeleteI learned from watching “How to shoot a Commercial” that there are different types of commercials you can have. You can have one that is settle with images or you can have one that is more informational and has visual that connect to the advertising completely. Also learned from this video that Talent is key in a advertisement. Of course, you have to be talented with editing but you also have to have talented actors. You could have expensive cameras and set ups but if the talent doesn’t match the equipment then your commercial might not be as good as it could be. Which is big in the advertising world, you want a good commercial so people will buy the product you are advertising.

ReplyDeleteI learned, both in the video and while filming, that lighting is everything. You really should have a main theme or persuasive technique, it helps. This requires a lot of pre-planning, the storyboard is your friend. Also, celebrity endorsement!
ReplyDeleteI learned from the videos that there are many components that go into making various types of commercials. The purpose of a commercial is to advertise, so having a good idea to convince people to use your product is important. Being good at acting or editing are good ways to enhance your commercial, make it appealing to the eye and draw in more viewers.
ReplyDeletei learned from the videos that having something catchy and memorable about your commercial makes the product your advertising memorable and more well known.
