ReplyDeleteI, Serita, by the way, read the article, Apple Finally Kills Newsstand To Make Way For Apple News, written by Julia Greenberg. The article is basically about how Apple is finally getting rid of the Newsstand to replace it with a newer, apparently, better app; Apple News. IT’s supposed to be faster, more efficient, and way more conforming to the things that the individual is interested in. This article was very well written, I’ll give it that, but almost immediately after I started reading it, I sensed a bias when it came to the journalist’s opinion on Apple’s Newsstand; she didn’t seem to really like it. The vibe that I got while reading this article was that she was very happy to know and inform you that Apple is getting rid of the Newsstand. The title could also hint to this bias, simply because of the use of the word “finally.” This, I’m pretty sure, is a new news article, like something that just came up, something that was just released. I’m also pretty sure that the journalist who wrote this was aware of my previous knowledge on Apple. Anyone who wasn’t familiar with this company, this article might not make any sense to them, but I understood what she was saying. Overall, although this article was written from a kind of bias perspective, it is still informative, still gets the point across, and is well written.

The title of the article was Muslim Boy. 14. Detained for Making Clock Mistaken for Bomb by the Associated Press. The article was about the police detaining a Muslim teenager for making a clock that was mistaken to be a bomb. The boy makes an arrangement of thinks; making his own radios, go-kart, and digital clocks in his spare time. However, after he had showed his newest digital clock to his teacher, another had thought it was a bomb after it beeped. The police came, along with reporters. It seems that the article is trying to spin that certain people have prejudice against people of the Muslim religion.
This news seems to be pulling at the hearts of the audience. “But because his name is Mohamed and because of Sept. 11, I think [Ahmed] got mistreated” the article takes from the father of the boy. Because of that quote, it makes it immediate that this article is trying to get the audience to feel for this boy who just likes making things. This news news article gives you an accurate amount of information and the story from the boy and policemen’s perspective (although the policemen don’t defend themselves well in the video).

ReplyDeleteMuslim Boy, 14, Detained for Making Clock Mistaken for Bomb is a new article by the Associated Press. It focuses on a young Muslim boy mistaken for making a bomb in the frame of a clock. Maybe because his name was Muhammed, and because of the events that happened on September 11th, 2001, was the teacher was so cautious about this clock. Not only does he make his own radios, he also even repairs his own Go-Kart. Muhammed’s father has said, “He just wants to invent good things for mankind,” but obviously the Irving Police Department thinks differently. They detained him for making a “hoax bomb” and are pending on charging him. Such a heavy charge for a 14 year old who only does these activities for his own good, he may have a future in engineering.
The title of my article is “Apple Finally Kills Newsstand to Make Way for Apple News” by Julia Greenberg. Today, Apple vice president introduced their latest operating system, iOS 9. This new app will allow people to read, share, and save stories online and off. This is revolutionary because now news will be even more accessible to everyone. This will also appeal to youth because, one, it has Apple’s name on it, and two, because it does not require internet. This is incredible because having access to internet or using up data is an issue for many kids I know. Now, if they have an iPhone, they will not have an excuse for not doing a Current Event in History class. This article is appeal to the heart of its readers because we all hold our technology to a standard. If we don’t like something, even if it is the littlest thing, we automatically do not want it anymore. With Apple News, Apple is trying to give people more of what they want so more people want their products. This is very smart on Apple’s part, and I will definitely check it out.
ReplyDeleteA) The article's title is Muslim Boy, 14, Detained for Making Clock Mistaken for Bomb. The author is The Associated Press.
ReplyDeleteB) The point of the article is a 14 year old Muslim boy in Dallas was arrested and then suspended for three days for making a digital clock that was mistaken for a bomb. The boy's father stated that the conflict was racial motivated.
C) The writing of this article is very simple and straight to the point. I don't detect any bias in the video/article or a voice. This is different than any other thing we seen in the past because there is absolutely no bias in the video/article.
D) This news article is a new news article. The author assumes you already know about the tragedy of 9/11 and racial views of Muslims.

ReplyDeleteA. The article I read was in the media section and was titled Nurses bash 'The View" hosts and this article was written by Diana Falzone.
B. This past week there was the Miss. America pageant and one contestant Kelley Johnson went on stage for the talent portion dressed in a nurses uniform and delivered a monologue she made about her profession as a nurse. Later, the next day 'The View' hosts were talking about how they didn't think that it was really a talent to be a nurse and how she didn't seem informed on nursing as a whole. She got backed up saying that she was a nurse for Alzheimer patients. They continued to bash her asking, "Why she has a stethoscope around her neck?" and a nurse replied with "Nurses use stethoscopes just as much as doctors maybe even more." Nurses around the world got the trend #nursesunite to go global and cause a frenzy on who was wrong and right in this case.
C. I don't think that this author was biased, she didn't state her opinion and she clearly stated the facts we know from both sides. This story was giving you more of a summary then I story. She didn't really go into detail about what any side said or go into any detail in general. I think it was a good story but maybe she should have done a couple more interviews to make the story more complete.
D. This is a bit of a NEW news story it's not exactly something we would know but if you watch the view or the entertainment news it may be something you are more familiar with. The author does not assume you know the story because she summarizes everything for us.

a. Muslim Boy, 14 ,Detained for Making Clock Mistaken for Bomb – ABC News
b. The main points of this article are about this Boy named Ahmed and how he was arrested for bringing in a hoax bomb and how the boy felt and how his family felt because he was “targeted” for being Muslim. The journalist provides us with an interview from the 14 year old and from the police officer who arrested and questioned him.
c. The article is an interview. They wanted to get both sides of the stories which they pretty much did. I can detect a voice in the article because the journalist tried to get both sides of the story and didn’t place a blame anywhere.
d. This is a new article because it was published today, September 16, 2015 at 12:07pm. This author assumes that we know why he was targeted. Because pf 9/11 as well as the fact that he was Muslim.
A. "Muslim Boy, 14, Detained for Making Clock Mistaken for Bomb", by THE ASSOCIATED PRESS.
ReplyDeleteB. A fourteen year old Muslim boy Ahmed Mohamed, in Irving Texas was detained by the police for allegedly bringing a bomb into his school. The young boy loved repairing go-carts and making radios, so he decided to make a homemade clock before he went to bed to show his engineering teacher the following day. He proudly brought it in, then he was quickly sent to the office, detained by the police, and suspended for three days.
C. This is extremely biased, being that Ahmed Mohamed is a Muslim boy in Texas. Ahmed's father believes that he was only detained because of past terrorist events that involved Islam.
D. The article is written with the author believing that you have a firm understanding of 9/11 and the prejudice associated with Muslim culture. It is written this way to create sympathy for Ahmed.

ReplyDeleteA. Social media world explodes after Irving students arrest for taking homemade clock to school by The Dallas morning news written by Nicole Stockdale
B. The main point of this article is that a 9th grade student named Ahmed Mohamed, brought a homemade clock to school and his teacher mistakenly thought it was a bomb and had him arrested. Social media is going crazy over if the teacher was right to call the police of if it was a stereotypical assumption. The journalist provides us with tweets about the incident. Many were by random people, his classmates and celebrities
C. The voice of this article is showing that this kid nothing wrong. He is a smart child and wanted to show his teacher and she just automatically thought it was a bomb. Many of these people are defending him.
D.This is a new article and she assumes that we know about it because its all over social media
A.Apple Finally Kills Newsstand to Make Way for Apple News and the author is julia greenburg.
ReplyDeleteB.The main idea about this article is the new update on apple products IOS 9, and the new news app the has been created. the journalist provided the reader what the app does and how you can use it on apps like facebook and snapchat.
C.the voice in this article is persuasive to the readers to get the update IOS 9 if you have an idevice
D.in my opinion this is not as much as a news article as they are making it.
The news article I read was “Apple Finally Kills Newsstand to Make Way for Apple News” by Juliana Greenberg. In this article the author assumes that you are already familiar with Newsstand and app that allowed you to read news from your apple device. The article was mostly about how Apple was getting rid of the Newsstand and adds Apple News. Apple News is a feature on the IOS update that tailors to your taste in articles based on articles you have read in the past. The article also mentioned that Apple news will be including Wired, Wired is also the website that this article is featured on. In this article I am picking up some favoritism for Apple. Since Wired is featured on the Apple Update this article is trying to persuade people to read Apple News. One thing that is not covered in this article is how this new article puts Apple even further ahead competition in this case Android.
ReplyDeleteTitle: Muslim Boy ,14, Detained for Making Clock Mistaken for Bomb
ReplyDeleteAuthor: The Associated Press
The main point of the article was to inform us that a muslim teen was possibly racially profiled after bringing a homemade clock to school which his teacher thought was a bomb. The tone of the seems like they’re not trying to take sides. They present information that intimates the whole altercation was racist but also makes it seem like it was something any student could undergo. The article is just a news article and not an ongoing thing. Cases like these often result in outrage for a day or two and then after that people gradually forget and or don’t care anymore. The Council on American-Islamic Relations is reviewing the matter but it’s unlikely their report of it will make news outside the North Texas community, where everything occurred.
a) “Muslim Boy, 14, Detained for Making Clock Mistaken for Bomb” by The Associated Press
ReplyDeleteb) The main point of the article was showing how a young boy was discriminated against because he was Muslim when he brought a homemade clock into class and the teachers called the cops because they thought it was a bomb. This journalist provided us with information about the boy and the area he lived in to better understand his circumstances.
c) The writing of the article is very biased. It supports the boy and includes quotes from his family and people who support him. None are included from either the police or the teachers. It is written differently than others because it did not include stories from both sides.
d) This is a new news story. As of last night, only one national news outlet was sharing the story (Buzzfeed). It is now trending on twitter in support of the boy and many news outlets have written about it. It assumes you already know about other discrimination Muslim people have faced.
A. “Hitler’s world may not be so far away” by Timothy Snyder
ReplyDeleteB. This article talked about how people today disregard the events of the Holocaust because they happened so long ago and aren’t directly connected to their lives. The journalist gives their opinion that the world that Hitler lived in could reappear and these events could repeat themselves. At the tie, Hitler knew there was another way to solve the problem he was having without massacring Jewish people, but blamed them because he thought that this was something that Jews had lied about and that they had to be eradicated. Today, we like to think that we would fight against this sort of destruction, but if it actually came, many of us would not act in this manner.
C. The article is less like other forms of writing that we have learned about because it is not written as if the journalist is speaking to us but that they have researched this topic and are now analyzing and relaying information. The article does not seem very biased because it gives both sides of the story, Hitler’s views and the views of the persecuted, but the author was definitely in favor of the Jewish people not being killed. The article is very well structured and is backed up with many facts that help to support its idea.
D. This article is new but also draws upon past events in the history of the world. It brings up a new topic about earlier events that makes everyone think about it differently. The author assumes that you at least know what the Holocaust was and have a basic understanding of the events that happened during it. They do go into more detail about it in the article but want you to have a very general understanding of it.
ReplyDeleteThe title of this article was Muslim Boy, 14, Detained for Making Clock Mistaken for Bomb. Associated press from abc news. The overall message was to inform the us about the incident that happened in the Middle East with a darker color young men named Ahmed Mohamed he was detained for bringing a clock mistaken as a bomb. This situation is biased. Ahmed father believe he was only detained because of past terrors that happened in Islam. This article was written to show sympathy for Ahmed.
A. Migrant Crisis: Clashes at the Hungary - Serbia border.
ReplyDeleteB. The main point of this article was about Hungary closed the entire border with Serbia. There's many chaos because they want to cross the boarder. The journalist provided what was going on and all the chaos between the people and the police.
C. The voice In the article is showing that there's a lot of chaos and fear in Serbia.
D. This is a new article . The author assumes that we now about how the immigrants are trying to escape from there country. This wasn't the first time I heard about immigrants trying to leave their country.
A. Debate night: GOP candidates battle for runner-up position by FoxNews.com
ReplyDeleteB. The main point of the article is to bring attention to and publicize the GOP Debate this evening as well as drawing in an audience and creating interest by blowing up the idea that this is the first ever election where two non politicians are the front running republican candidates.
C. The article is entirely biased. It's a Fox News article so it's written from an extremely right winged perspective. This article is different from other forms of writing we have discussed in the past because it is written more informatively and not for artistic purposes and it's not *supposed to be* written as a slanted or opinionated piece.
D. A continuing story regarding the GOP presidential candidacy. The writer is assuming you are following the campaign and if you aren't the writer is encouraging you to watch and vote.
